The Pain of Letting Go: When God Ends a Season

Pain. It might be the word that best describes this moment. The pain of letting go.

We all go through seasons in life when a project or a chapter comes to an end. A team you’ve worked with for years completes its work, you graduate, you move to another city, or something similar. Even though these transitions are usually celebrated as victories and achievements, for me they often bring a momentary feeling of emptiness.

The Hidden Purpose Behind Painful Endings

I was 14 years old when I saw a vision, a prophecy, of where my life was heading. I remember the moment and the feeling, how I burst into tears of joy and promised God I would do anything to reach that place. I am still on that path. Every wound along the journey, every moment of joy… all of it has shaped me into what He intended me to become.

This year, He has confirmed that prophecy. He has added layers to it, clarified details, and repeated His message so clearly that I simply can no longer doubt it. It will happen. Only a handful of people know about this vision. Those to whom He has chosen to reveal it. It is about a blessing that will flow far beyond me. Its impact will be greater than anything I will ever fully understand.

Learning to Surrender When Nothing Feels Stable

And yet today, at this very moment, I feel depressed. My old world has begun to fall apart. I have, in a way, completed this chapter. I have graduated from a divine school, and preparations for the closing celebration are underway. My old life is breaking apart, both literally and figuratively. Because I am only human, I cannot yet see what He is building in its place. On the surface, everything looks like chaos, and because the process has been exhausting, I am completely worn out.

This long process has required solitude. It has required learning to live with uncertainty. It has required letting go of everything and fully surrendering, completely yielding to His will. Against all expectations, I am still alive, still afloat. The Lord has brought people into my life when they were needed. But now, the time with the most recent ones has come to an end. Our schedules no longer align, and we are unable to stay in touch. A familiar pattern.

How God Prepares You Through Seasons of Loss

Depression is the result. It is grief, uncertainty, exhaustion, and love with nowhere to go. It is the cherry on top. It is a sign of how much life has been lived. Enough for many lifetimes, in fact. These people and environments have become dear to us. Releasing them into the Lord’s hands is both painful and beautiful.

I know I am not alone in this feeling. I know this feeling is not mine alone. I have followed the eagle. My clothes became dirty, my shoes wore out. Now I arrive barefoot, washed clean, at the Gate. I have already seen the mountain, I am almost there. Even though I now feel loneliness and see nothing but desert and dust around me, I know another has walked this same path. We will arrive at the same time.

All Glory to God

This is not about human achievement. I stand here as a witness to His greatness, His love, and His works. I am indescribably grateful 💛 Almost there. Soon it will be time to celebrate. He is always with us.

Even when I sometimes feel emptiness and cannot sense Him near, this time He is closely present. Last night, He placed this article in my heart. I wait with anticipation to see how He will use it.

Let His will be done!

Finally

Even when life feels like chaos, God is still working beneath the surface. The pain of transition is not the end of your story. It is often the doorway to something greater than you can yet see. Seasons of letting go, loneliness, and spiritual refinement are not wasted; they are part of a divine process shaping your calling. Trust that what is falling away is making room for what God has already prepared. You are closer than you think.
